Host Families

Because Zebulon Devil Dogz players will be coming from Australia, they’ll need housing for the season. As NCAA student athletes, they’re not allowed to accept pay to play, so in effect, we have to rely on local families to house our players so they can play.

Host families receive numerous benefits, plus the opportunity to share an unforgettable experience with an incredible ballplayer and person. We know you may have questions, so see below.

If this opportunity sounds exciting, we invite you to join Zebulon’s new CPL Baseball Team as a host family! For questions or to sign up, please contact our General Manager Caleb Whittemore at (919) 744-3076.

What Is A Host Family?

Host families play a critical role in the success of many college summer programs. Our players and coaches are uniquely coming from Australia and won’t have a community or housing in Zebulon.

As NCAA student athletes, these players are not allowed to accept pay to play. In effect our league relies on local families to house their players so they have an opportunity to compete this summer.

How Long Will My Player Stay?

The season runs from the end of May through early August. Players begin arriving mid-May or once their college season ends.

The CPL regular season concludes July 31, with the postseason ending August 7. Players will not stay beyond the end of the CPL postseason.

Required Living Arrangements

All we ask for is a clean bedroom with access to a bathroom, laundry, and ideally a kitchen/kitchenette.

Families are welcome – but not required – to include the player in meals or activities.

Most players keep odd hours due to the nature of games and travel, so being comfortable with unusual meal times (including the occasional midnight fridge raid!) is encouraged.

Perks Of Being A Host Family

Hosting a CPL player can be an incredibly rewarding experience. Players are excellent role models for children and teenagers and often build lasting friendships with their host families.

In addition to welcoming a great young adult into your home, host families will receive complimentary tickets, merchandise discounts, a pre- and post-season celebration, on-field recognition with their player, and more.

(Plus, there’s always a chance you’re housing a future MLB star!)
